The LA Grind: Week of July 21st
Upcoming events, founder spotlight, venture deals, investment opportunities, and more.

š Iām Justin. I run The LA Grind, host the Just Go Grind podcast, and scout for Headline. Iāve lived in LA since 2018, earned my MBA from USC (āļø), and Iām probably out running when Iām not writing this.
Last week, I announced The LA Grind Community Partners, a new initiative that highlights companies supporting the LA startup ecosystem, in the newsletter and at my events, and Iām very optimistic about what this will become long-term.
Iāll be featuring Community Partners in every edition of this newsletter, through quarterly events, and on social media. 12-month commitments. Limited spots. Category exclusive. If interested in becoming one, reply to this newsletter.
Separately, Iām exploring creating an LA Grind Membership that gets you invites to 2-3 member-only events each month, early access to other events, partner perks and discounts, and a private WhatsApp. Your vote helps decide if I launch it.

Zach Rash is the founder of Coco Robotics, the worldās largest fleet of self driving delivery vehicles. Iām sure youāve seen them around LA.
Zach started building sidewalk robots while studying computer science at UCLA, then turned the prototype into Coco. Today the Veniceābased company has built more than 1,000 coolerāsized bots that have logged over one million miles, using LAās unpredictable curbs, construction zones, and weather to sharpen their computerāvision models while remote pilots keep an eye on every trip.
The concept has attracted major backing: Sam and Max Altman joined Pelion and Offline in a JuneāÆ2025 round that brought in $80āÆmillion, pushing Cocoās total funding past $110āÆmillion. Commercial traction is growing, too with Coco now supplying lastāmile runs for UberāÆEats and an expanded DoorDash deal that rolled out robot delivery to merchants in LosāÆAngeles and Chicago after clearing 100,000 orders in pilot programs.
Connect with Zach on LinkedIn, check out Coco Robotics, and tell him The LA Grind sent you!
